Custom Performance Engineering offers the first aftermarket EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber engine mount for the Mazda 3 / MazdaSPEED 3! CNC machined from a single piece of billet 6061-series aluminum; this mount is not only totally indestructible, but it also transmits far less NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) into the cabin than comparable mounts.
The CPE mount is unique compared to competitors mounts both in form and in function. We use rubber for the bushing as opposed to urethane simply because it is better suited for this application. Rubber withstands engine heat much better then urethane, and it will not deform or crack over time the way urethane can. CPE was also able to incorporate a unique method of holding the mount in the vehicle. Instead of placing all of the force on the center bushing pin, the load is distributed throughout the bushing. This increases the effective stiffness of the bushing under engine loads, and the 60-durometer bushing absorbs annoying vibrations. Now you can combine the stiffness of a race mount with the comfort of a stock unit!
The motor mount will be offered in two degrees of stiffness, 60 durometer and 75 durometer. We recommend 60 durometer for most customers, but if you want extra stiffness at the expense of some vibration, then you should choose 75 durometer.
great mount bought all 3 worth the money wheel hop greatly reduced puts the power to the road makes the oe one look like a joke.
I purchased this a while ago, before cp-e raised the prices on their mounts (something about their EPDM supplier). I've had their 75d mount on the car for 8,000 miles so far, and am still enjoying it. It greatly reduces wheel hop, but if you're going to get anything past just an intake and a tune, you'll probably need all 3 mounts if you want to get rid of wheel hop completely.
Vibrations are almost non-existent. The only time I notice any NVH is sitting at a stoplight, with the A/C on. If I'm moving with the A/C on, or if the A/C is off, NVH is the same as stock.
The feel of the shifter is slightly more solid, but it isn't something you'll notice unless you're really paying attention.
I'd love to get their side mounts but I don't think I could justify how expensive they are.
